A General Forum
I have been a part many forums and the one’s that I’ve seen succeed are the forums that focus on a certain niche. If it focuses just on music with a few off topic sections, it will go very far. But if it focuses on EVERYTHING in general with no push towards any subject over the other, it can get pretty boring and confusing.
I encourage forums to have a few off topic sections but having the whole board as being off topic can be a bit chaotic. But there are some general forum’s that succeed in this environment and sometimes I am very surprised. Usually these forum’s have a great owner or owners and they know what they are doing. As you can see I have mixed feelings about this but I still don’t think it’s a good idea to have a general forum to start with.
