A directory is explained as a place where you will get information about other areas. It just directs you to that place and gives you a few information. The phone book is a directory. And there web internet drectories that gives you information and directs you to certain type of websites. Stu’s web directory is one of those directories. I will use stu’s directory titled Site Sift to give you a brief overview on directories.
If you visit site sift you will see a few categories that include arts, health, busines, internet, science, sports, and the world. These categories have sub categories for a more detailed directory listing. Lets say you have a internet design company and if you put it under INTERNET you will see sites from the broad category. You can get a few thousand results which will take you a pretty long time going through all of it. Now if you have a web design category inside the internet category, you will see only web design related links. All the links will be web design related and it will all help you with information.
There are many directories that are free and those are usually new with minimal traffic. Stu’s directory is well advanced with some great stats so prices do apply. But their listings can and probably will help you with seo. Go around and look for some directories and and see how it can help you out with your SERPs and even some traffic.
