Options, what is it? It is giving your visitors and members more than one choice of doing things or giving them the opportunity to choose something other than what you offer already. Options can be very attractive and advantageous. Like credit card processors, you get many options to pay your bills or even charge your card.
Options in life can make it easier for you to get around places and do things. Just think if you have the choice of doing something other than what you do normally, wouldn’t you do it? Especially if it’s better than your current job. A site with an example that offers a lot of choices for their merchants is PayPal. You can receive payments in many different ways. By credit card, from bank account directly, withdrawal, echeck, and more. Just keep this in mind, giving options to everyone can get their interest and actually help you get visitors, members, and more.
Bookmarking websites are an essential part of being a webmaster. Especially if the website is yours. If you can interest someone else enough with your content and have them to actually bookmark your website, wouldn’t you feel great? If you use cpanel and have awstats, you can actually see how many people have bookmarked your site into their browser. I am pretty sure you have some bookmarked websites as well.
If you do like to keep track of your favorite websites by bookmarking them, and if you have multiple computers, don’t you find it a hassle to bookmark the website into all of your computers? Well this Bookmark Base software lets you sync all the bookmarks from one browser to the next and from one computer to the other. It can save you some time as well as have your site bookmarked in more than just one computer or browser.
Getting your visitors to bookmark your website can mean traffic or even a new member because you have given them something of interest to them. Just fill up your website, forum, or blog with some very useful information so they can come back later and have something to look forward to. Good luck!
All forums and blogs gets spam members. It is almost inevitable. If you have vbulletin forum - there are several mods together that can keep your blog from spam bots. But it’s still unlikely that you will stop the spamming people that come around. These people tend to spam your boards or blogs with links of illegal or warez products which can hurt you badly. But there are several signs you can look for. It can be seen as some sort of tenant referencing or tenant screening for landlords that check their tenant’s background and records to see what type of people they are.
To find spammers on forums, just do a few things. Have an introduction board and send a welcome message to all new members asking them to tell a little about themselves in the intro board. If they dont and go straight into your advertising board, its for spam. So just make your board accessible for people with 10-30 posts. It stops people from spam. Some mods can allow you to prevent certain new members from posting any links.
Next look at their signature, if it has illegal links, take them off because it is on your forum and it can hurt you. Now look at the quality of their posts, not the quantity. If its just “Thanks” or “I agree” its spam. Even if they are not putting in links. It is spam. They are doing this to get their post count up for their sig links or to get a prize or gift or whatever is being ran.
I will post more ways of finding spam members later on. Thanks!
